My Review of EditorNinja

EditorNinja Banner

The test we ran with EditorNinja was for three articles: 2 for their Copy Editing and Proofreading service and 1 for their Content Update for a published Blog Post. Please note, the Content Update is currently only available through their subscription plan.

For our tests, we ordered editing requests for 1,100-word and 2,600-word articles.

Overall, we were happy and impressed with the results and how seamless the process was from start to finish. I received 50 suggested revisions in one document. These suggestions weren’t just lots of little ones. There were substantial suggestions as well.

To start, their explanation of services was clear and informative. They gave me a deep dive into exactly what goes into each type of editing, like proofreading, developmental editing, or ESL edits. This explanation helped me know exactly what to expect.

I appreciated that they didn’t just make edits without flagging the errors. They made suggested changes so that I could accept or deny the improvement. But to be honest, I accepted almost 100% of the suggestions.

They also gave me high-level recommendations on things like formatting for improved flow and adding more context or even definitions.

EditorNinja delivered on time for every test we ran with them. There are several turnaround options: Regular (next day), Two-Day, or Rushed (same day). However, the document can’t be over 3,500 words if you go with Rushed.

While I really liked their services, I could see the cost being a little prohibitive for some. Basic Editing starts at $397 a month for 10,000 words. However, if you have a ton of content to publish, EditorNinja can help you save a ton of time not only with the editing but also with looking for the editor and onboarding them.

EditorNinja Pros

  • The editors and support staff were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
  • EditNinja’s submission process is quick and easy.
  • The turnaround time is as fast as advertised. Some of the other providers we’ve tested took longer than they initially estimated. But EditorNinja met their deadlines.
  • We got more than just general editing and proofreading. EditorNinja gave us recommendations on structure and context as well.
  • It’s great for AI-generated content. Since they look for more than just grammatical mistakes, they will remove repetition and hallucinations.
  • EditNinja proposes edits. They don’t automatically make the changes without you being able to make the final choice to approve or not.

EditorNinja Cons

  • There is no cheap way in any more. The old per-word single document option is gone, so the entry point is $397 a month for 10,000 words whether you use all of it or not.
  • Content updates used to be subscription-only. They now sell Content Refreshing separately at $250 an average-length article. We tested it and were impressed with the level of effort and detail they put into fact-checking and the recommendations for updating the context.
  • You need to be familiar with Google Docs already. But who isn’t nowadays? It’s the best for seeing editors’ comments.

What Is EditorNinja?

EditorNinja is a service that provides on-demand editing for marketing content. Their proprietary technology enables MFA-trained editors to edit content at scale, saving businesses time and money.

Users can add their editing requests to a queue, and a dedicated editor will take care of it. The service also allows for scaling production up or down as needed.Adding Document Screen

How EditorNinja Works

We started by choosing the Single Document plan because we just wanted to test their capabilities. That option has since been retired, so everything now runs through a monthly word block. The submission flow below is unchanged.

EditorNinja Dashboard

You start by adding the document to the queue. They ask for the types of services you need:

  • Copy-editing and proofreading
  • Developmental or substantive
  • Only proofreading
  • Editing for AI
  • Editing for English as a Second Language.

From there, it is just a simple matter of answering a few questions like your word count and a brief which can be as specific or generic as you want. For the brief, you can let them know things like if the tone is too far off and needs to align with your brand, if there are topics that need expansion, or if your AI-generated text feels too repetitive.  You will also need to include a link to the Google Docs document.

It’s a super simple process.

Then, you can track where your article is in the process and who the editor is in the Editing Queue. The turnaround time for us was timely. They didn’t go over the time they estimated.

Their History tab is also quite helpful for reviewing all the submissions you’ve given them for the life of your account.

EditorNinja Pricing

EditorNinja now sells editing in monthly word blocks. The per-word single document option we originally tested on has been retired. Prices below were checked in September 2026.

Single Document Editing (retired)

EditorNinja Pricing 2

This is how it worked when we tested, at $0.045 a word for an average cost of $50 to $80. It is no longer offered. The screenshot above is kept as a record.

  • Copy Editing/Proofreading
  • Developmental/Substantive Editing
  • Proofreading Only

  • English as a Second Language Editing

When submitting a task, EditorNinja will immediately tell you the cost of the one-off editing based on the type and word count.

Final Thoughts

Based on our tests, we definitely recommend EditorNinja as a service that will help you scale up your production schedule.

Start on Basic Editing at 10,000 words a month and move up to In-Depth if the drafts need more than a copy edit. Since the single document option went away, the smallest commitment is $397, so work out roughly how many words a month you actually publish before you sign up.
