WriterAccess Pros + Cons Video

WriterAccess Overview

WriterAccess is the “Upwork of content writing” and a huge freelance writer marketplace.  Their 15,000 writers support over 39,000 brands and 1,000 agencies with expertise in a large number of verticals.

Writers are primarily U.S. based and all native speakers.

They were first launched in Boston as a content marketing agency in 2005.  And after a huge growth spurt they introduced the WriterAccess platform in 2010.  Since then, they've been on the Inc. 5,000 list since 2014 and are used by big names like Microsoft, 3M, & AAA

When it comes to finding a writer, they have a robust search tool that allows you to find writers with experience in particular niches and user ratings. WriterAccess Review - Search Blog Writers

How Does WriterAccess Work?

How Does WriterAccess Work?

You pay a small monthly fee to access the platform (starting at $39/mo) and then you pay for content by the word based on a rate set by your writer. The platform offers things like advanced search, writer payments and communication, workflow tools, content strategists, access to images and more depending on the plan you choose.

You can choose from writers ranging from two to six stars on WriterAccess’ rating scale and the price averages 6-10 cents per word depending on writer rating and expertise.

They offer a 14 day free trial and a 30 day money back guarantee on any content ordered in case you are not completely satisfied with their work.

You can find writers specializing in blogs, product descriptions, or specific industries. They even offer translators. You can have your writer create something from the notes you give them or have them do in depth research.

All content is run through copyscape for your protection.

Is WriterAccess Legit?

Yes, WriterAccess is a legit service. They rigorously vet writers the company brings on board and deliver great content. They have some reputable customers like Microsoft, 3M, and AAA.

Who Should Use WriterAccess?

If you’re looking to increase your article output through a combination of human-written and AI-generated content, WriterAccess is one you should look into.

My only caution is to make sure that it makes financial sense for your budget, especially considering PandaCopy offers a similar per-word price without using AI and without the monthly fee.

WriterAccess Pros

Pros: Here’s what I like about WriterAccess

  • Ability to hire expert writers in very particular fields and specialties.
  • Talent pre-vetting and star rating system for writers.
    • WriterAccess performs rigorous screening on applicants' education, writing expertise, knowledge of SEO and social media, and the extent of their online authority. All writers must be native English speakers, and talent applications are accepted only from residents of the US, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, South Africa and the Republic of Ireland. Clients can select writers based upon country and state.
    • WriterAccess requires multiple forms of photo ID and also monitors changes in IP addresses during talent login. Writers are assigned 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 stars depending on their profile details, industry experience and demonstrated writing proficiency. Writers' star levels can increase and decrease depending on the algorithmic scoring of completed orders, client reviews, and blind editor ratings on the platform.
  • All content has a money back guarantee (if you don’t like the work and revisions, they will replace it with another writer or refund you)
  • AI driven search function – you can narrow search based on profiles and keywords. You can also post a job and have people apply.
  • You can escalate any issues to a customer success specialist.  And if you can’t find the type of expert writer you want with search, they can dive deeper and help find specific experts for you.
  • Very comprehensive dashboard for search and management of individual or teams of writers.
  • Posts come with up to 2 royalty free images. You can pay for additional royalty free images, or premium stock photos from Getty or Shutterstock.
  • You can keep using your favorite writers for consistency.

WriterAccess Cons

Cons: Here are the only things I don’t like about WriterAccess

  • Having a huge platform does come with some challenges. While every writer is vetted, you may have to try out a couple candidates to find one you like (see: how to hire a blog writer). Some smaller platforms choose candidates for you, but you must choose yourself on WriterAccess (unless you upgrade to the premium, managed service).
  • There is a platform fee in addition to paying by the word.
  • Variable per word writing costs may make budgeting harder than some blog writing services who charge a fixed rate per month.

Is WriterAccess Worth It?

WriterAccess is not worth it. When comparing services like PandaCopy [check out our review] which offers an easier pricing plan, human-written content, and editing to WriterAccess, my preference would be PandaCopy.

WriterAccess combines AI-generated texts and human-written to produce content at scale. WriterAccess, however, will give you a much more polished blog post that would be publish-ready compared to AI-generated content alone.

You want to weigh budgetary concerns when considering if using WriterAccess is worth it. Check out our section on pricing for a fuller picture.

My only caution is that there are other human-written services with a less complex pricing plan, like PandaCopy, that will utilize human writers to do the writing.

WriterAccess Pricing

Writer Access Pricing

The pricing for WriterAccess has two main parts: the monthly fee and the per-word fee. On top of the price of four main monthly plans, you need to factor in how much the individual articles cost. Writers ultimately give you their per-word rate for each project.

WriterAccess rates their writers as being 2 to 6 stars, which has a lot to do with what you can expect to pay per article. Here is an average of what you can expect to pay according to star rankings:

  • 2 stars: $0.04 per word
  • 3 stars: $0.06 per word
  • 4 stars: $0.08 per word
  • 5 stars: $0.10 per word
  • 6 stars: $2.00 per word

Let’s take a look at WriterAccess’s monthly plans.

  • Starter: $49
  • Growth: $119
  • Pro: $359
  • Enterprise: $599

This means at the Starter level, your first 1,000-word article from a 5-star writer will cost $149. So, make sure that you’re ordering enough articles to make that monthly fee make sense for your needs.
