Senior-level marketing jobs include the supervision of the entire marketing team. Additionally, senior-level marketing executives will help steer the overall brand positioning and launch strategy of a company’s product or service.

Chief Marketing Officer

Overview/Tasks: The Chief Marketing Officer or CMO is the head of the marketing department. The overall task of the CMO is to lead the brand messaging and the marketing strategy of the company. The CMO answers to the president or the CEO of the company.

Qualifications/Skills: CMO will usually have an MBA as well as extensive experience as a senior marketing director. Typically, a CMO will have at least 10 years of business experience.

Salary Range: $150,000 to $500,000 per year

VP of Marketing

Overview/Tasks: The VP of marketing is usually the second in command of the marketing department. In the CMO’s absence, the VP of marketing will handle the overall management of the marketing department. Qualifications/Skills: The VP of marketing will usually have an MBA as well as several years of experience as a senior or mid-level marketing manager. Additionally, a VP of marketing will have at least 10 years of experience in a marketing position.

Director of Communications

Overview/Tasks: A Director of Communications is a senior-level marketing director who supervises all the advertising and PR of a company. This executive will work with the advertising and PR agency to deliver campaigns on behalf of the company.

Qualifications/Skills: The Director of Communications will usually have a college or MBA degree as well as some experience as a mid-level marketing manager. Additionally, a Director of Communications may have an advertising or public relations background. The Director of Communications will answer to the VP of Marketing.

Director of Content

Overview/Tasks: The Director of Content will supervise the creation and the delivery of all content including social media, advertising, and public relations material.
